A Big Thank You for Your Support from Our GM

Dear Pajarito Passholders:

What a strange time we find ourselves in. As I reflect on the past winter, I can’t help but think about how grateful I am to you for supporting Pajarito, both in good times and with the abrupt closure of the mountain due to COVID-19. As the pandemic continues to affect all of us, our thoughts and prayers are especially with those who are hurting or grieving, with our essential workers and healthcare workers who are out on the front lines of this thing, and the first responders who are helping us stay safe.

Throughout slim snow seasons and robust, wildfires and now COVID-19, you have supported our mountain. Despite these storms, we have worked hard to live by our mission to “give people the freedom to ski” and do the very best we can for our guests, employees, vendors, business and nonprofit partners.

We wanted to give you a quick update on how things are going on the mountain:

  • Although all seasonal employees have now ended their winter employment, we are continuing to offer work and pay to our small year-round staff to perform essential duties, work from home or use accrued holiday and vacation time should they elect not to work due to the pandemic. The team is monitoring the snowmaking water collection and so far, we have moved about 1.5 million gallons into the pond so far.
  • We have applied for financial assistance through the CARES Act Paycheck Protection and Economic Injury Disaster Loans programs, with the hope to keep our year-round staff employed for the foreseeable future and we ultimately reopen the resort.
  • We are currently evaluating the feasibility of opening this summer. Due to staff restraints, coupled with state and federal restrictions, we will be determining the status of our summer operations soon.
  • We expect to launch our 2020/2021 season pass sale very soon, including new products, added values, and updated terms and conditions to reflect the new “normal” we all are forced to reconcile as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the economy and our businesses. We are excited to announce 1% of pass sales will go to supporting local small businesses affected by COVID-19! The beneficiaries will be named at a later date.

Again, we want to thank you for partnering with us for the 2019/2020 season. We had 73 days of operation, with great conditions all season long. The recent storm reminded us of what’s to come when we get on the slopes again. When this is over, we know you’ll be eager to get on the mountain again, and we’re committed to continuing to provide a place to find hope, community, and skiing. We believe better days are ahead, and we hope you do as well.

We look forward to sharing more information with you about next season’s passes in the coming days. In the meantime, we hope that you and your loved ones are doing well and staying safe. There are many more great times and great memories ahead, and we hope you’ll join us in creating them again soon.

On behalf of our entire Pajarito team,  we sincerely appreciate your business. We would not be here without your continued support and shared passion for skiing and riding our great mountain.

Best regards,

Tom Long
