Riding & Using Chairlifts
Pajarito Chairlift Safety Starts With You
Become Familiar with the Lift and Ask for Assistance
Pajarito chairlift safety, as in mountain safety, always begins with you – understanding the risks and taking necessary precautions to safely enjoy your time on the mountain. It is YOUR Responsibility to know how to use and ride lifts safely.
According to our friends at the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) and Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA), using and riding chairlifts in a responsible manner is one of the primary safety considerations for ALL skiers and snowboarders.
Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.
Pajarito Lift Safety Tips:
- Need assistance? Ask! Do not hesitate to ask the lift attendant for help.
- Remove and carry packs. Children in packs are not allowed on chairlifts at Pajarito Mountain Ski Area.
- While loading and unloading do not use phones, music or games.
- Know that it is okay to miss a chair and wait for the next one.
- When loading, watch for the approaching chair and then sit to the back once seated!
- Dropped something? LET IT FALL. Any item dropped can be picked up later.
- Absolutely NO horseplay on the lifts!
- Watch and share the CSCUSA videos on loading, riding and unloading a chairlift.
First Time Visitors and Groups:
We encourage you and your group to take the Ability Levels Quiz, watch and share the following chairlift safety videos, and consider signing up for a ski and ride lesson from our Pajarito Ski School instructors.
